Busylizzy Family Club, who won the 2016 bfa’s ‘Emerging Franchisor of the Year’ Award, have now also been named as one of the top 100 franchises in the UK.
Elite Franchise has revealed their ‘Top 100 Franchises’ league table, comparing franchises for longevity, financial performance, size of network, growth, contribution (to the community and to franchising as a whole), support, innovation and future plans. Busylizzy came in at number 65 in a list which included Subway, Papa Johns and McDonalds.
According to the bfa/Natwest annual survey, the UK franchise industry has an annual turnover of £15.1bn with over 900 franchised brands operating. There are 44,200 franchisee outlets employing 621,000 people with 97% of units operating profitably.
Founded by old school friends Julie Clabby and Sarah Batterbury, Busylizzy ran successfully in Guildford from 2011 before franchising in 2014. Busylizzy now has 20 franchisees operating across the UK with 8000 members and providing employment for over 240 instructors.
Busylizzy offers the 2019 parent on paternity or maternity leave a welcome alternative to the traditional method of signing up for one specific exercise or baby/ toddler class and the inherent inflexibility of being locked in to a pre-determined ‘term’, with missed classes effectively ‘lost’.
With a tag line that reads ‘Fitness and fun for mums and little ones, that’s what Busylizzy is all about!’, the company aims to support mums and families offering age appropriate classes at every stage of their parenthood journey from antenatal exercise through till when their child goes to school at 4yrs old.
Busylizzy clubs host a regular timetable of classes each week; members pay a monthly membership fee and have the freedom to book, cancel and reschedule classes via the app. Members can choose from over 20 classes in their local area, offering everything from gentle pregnancy exercise, through to restorative post-natal yoga and onto fun children’s classes. Babies and children are welcome at all classes with special baby duvets laid out for them to lay on while the parent exercises meaning no extra child-care costs.
Commenting on their position in the league table founder Julie Clabby said,
‘We’re still buzzing!! We’ve had a brilliant year and to be listed on this new league table of the Top 100 Franchises in the UK is a real achievement. When one considers there are 900 franchise brands operating in this country, we are absolutely delighted to be at number 65!
‘Busylizzy is growing rapidly and we are set for an outstanding 2019, who knows where we’ll be on the list this time next year?’
